General Information/Applications

OFOSA is excited you have shown interest in adopting an animal from us!

Please keep in mind when you are looking for a companion that although animals may be adorable at first glance, they are a big commitment and a lot of work.  We look to place our animals in permanent, lifelong homes and are willing to work with you to help select an animal that is the best compatible fit.

Adoptions fees are as follows:

 Small dogs and puppies

$250

 Adult dogs

$200

Cats/Kittens

$100

What do adoption fees include?

Our animals have completed a general veterinary examination, are up-to-date on vaccinations, have been altered, and have been microchipped.

We disclose any potential health problems that we are able to find and disclose any information that we learn regarding behavior during foster care. We also include a free veterinary examination and a Petco coupon booklet.

Thank you for your interest in a rescue animal!

What Our Adopters Are Saying…

The Korth Family - Delilah

“Dear OFOSA,

Just wanted to let you know how happy we are with our new doggie!  We adopted Delilah a few weeks ago from you (OFOSA) at Petco. We have renamed her Zoey since she acted less like a Diva and more nutty like Zoe on Sesame Street. Anyway, she has been a wonderful addition to our family.

Zoey (Delilah) likes to play chase with the boys, running around like a fast little bullet with the boys laughing the whole time! She also gets so happy to see us when we get up in the morning or come in the house after doing errands, etc.

She loves to kiss and has been friendly to everyone. There has been minimal barking. In fact, for a few days there we wondered if she was going to make a sound at all.

Anyway, thanks for the great job you are doing, helping families like ours find their forever "best friend."

Sincerely,
The Korth Family
Paul, Jerri-Lyn, Parker and Graham”

Beth and Jason - Ginger

“I'm not sure if you'll remember us, but about a year ago I adopted a dog from you by the name of Ginger.  I just wanted to let you know she is doing well and is such a special part of our family. I'm one of those moms who think everything is cute and has to take a picture of it!

I don't know if she'd ever seen the ocean before but she had this look of amazement on her face the whole time.  This is by far my favorite picture.  She was having a blast!  She'd run and run and chase the ball.

And I think partially she was amazed with just the huge wide open space to run. Because we were in a Cove, there were a lot of rocks and rock formations to climb on which Jason took advantage of.  It looks like Ginger and I are standing in the middle of rock waves because the side portions of the cove were all worn away rocks. It was nice because there weren't any people there and, since we were in the cove, she could be let off her leash to just go and we knew she wouldn't be able to get lost.

I can never thank you enough for saving Ginger; I don't know what life would be like without her.  She is a very important part of our lives.

Our roommate moved out a month or so ago and the thing he says he misses the most isn't us, but Ginger.  She misses him too.  I know because the day after he moved out I found a 'present' in the middle of the floor where his bed used to be.  She's never had an accident in the house so I think she was trying to tell us something!

This summer we went through a bout with allergies...not us mind you, but Ginger.  We noticed she was sneezing a lot and chewing her paw and the vet said it was probably allergies and something she was walking through in the grass so we gave her Benadryl for it.  Our roommate took no end of pleasure in this because he's allergic to her and took Benadryl to make his symptoms go away, so every morning they shared one.

She's gotten a little chubby too!  She's gained about 3-5 pounds, the vet said she was still within normal range though.  And personally, I think its okay; I've got a few extra too ;)  I hope all is well with you and the animals you help save.

Thank you again!
Beth, Jason and Ginger too!”

Jobeth Namaste - Mishu

“Dear OFOSA,

Here I am with my gift to me.  This is Mishu, the Peke. As you know, she was rescued in northern Oregon and I have adopted her.  She is very sweet and quiet.  We estimate her age at 7.  How different to have a tiny dog! It was so hard to decide to say "goodbye" to my sweet old dog, but it was time.

I have enjoyed whale watching this year and will be doing that again at Shore Acres near Coos Bay after Christmas.  I bought a folding tent trailer and will be towing it to Arizona in January.  I will be volunteering at Dead Horse State Park near Cottonwood for a month.  Revisiting my birth state has become very important to me.  I hope to reconnect to my past in various ways.   Friendships bring great joy to life and I am blessed by knowing YOU.

Jobeth Namaste”

Jergesen Family - Rainie

Dear OFOSA,

Hello from the Jergesen family, about a year ago we adopted a kitten from your organization. Her name is Rainie (a.k.a. Puddy). WE LOVE HER VERY MUCH!!!!! She is doing so well at our home. We found her picture on petfinder.org and couldn't help but take her home when we saw her in person.

Rainie never got real big but she is all cat!  She teases the dogs by charging at them and then taking off in the other direction. She RULES the house and runs all around making all kinds of crazy growling noises in the dark. She also “burns out” on our hardwood floors - we can't help but laugh. She also tears out of the litter box after doing her business, flinging litter everywhere but we don't mind.

Rainie has a “Puddy Penthouse” (her huge scratching post).  We don't try to pet her when she is on it because she turns into “Tiger” Puddy when she is up there.

We taught her how to wave for a kitty treat and she comes running when she hears the bag.

She is all cuddles in the morning and wants loving pets. She is also quite the talker and likes to lick your face while you’re lying in bed.

We are so happy to have found such a suiting pet and wanted to share our story with all of you.

These are just a few of the funny things she does.  She is a real kick!

Rachmady Family - Piper

“Dear OFOSA,

It's been one year since we adopted Piper, the rottweiler formerly known as Princess/Patina. We had been looking to adopt a puppy, but when we read Piper's story on your website we knew we had to see her. We met her at one of your adoption locations and it took about a minute and half for my husband to say, "We'll take her".

She is a wonderful, wonderful girl. We simply couldn't have asked for a better dog. She gets along so well with our three rescue kitties and, aside from a little habit of secretly stealing food off counters (which she is working really hard to stop :-), she really has no bad habits. We know how it can be to place a Rottie, but we want to thank you for giving her a chance. I think you said it best when, on your website, you described her as an “ambassador of her breed.” She truly is.

Thank you for finding her and letting her become a member of our family. I've attached a picture of her relaxing in the sun in our backyard.

Meghan and Willy Rachmady”

Beth Bowerman - Tammy

“I just thought I would update you on Tammy, the little dog that I fostered/adopted in March.  She is a sweetheart!!!!!  She had her surgery April 14 and when I took her in for a checkup two weeks ago, the vet said she was ahead of recovery schedule as she was putting some weight on her little leg.  Since that time she has really blossomed.  Just a fun little dog and a great addition to my household.  My cat, Rosie, has finally accepted the dog that is now named Missy.  They are not great friends but the potential is there.  I just want to thank you for the opportunity of adopting this little dog.  The work you are doing is wonderful.  Thank you again.

Beth Bowerman”
